  1. I’m surprised! The dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in is NOT on that list (and it deserves it). This hotel was in a town north of Edmonton, and I knew it was trouble when I smelt the old cigarette smoke in the hallway when I booked in (this was not my choice of hotel – it was my boss’). My roommate and I were shown to our suite, which was ice cold (even though it was summer). The manager fixed the heater…sort of. It would turn on every hour and made a rattling noise much like a bike chain that is off gear, and this woke us up repeatedly. The blankets and sheets had burn holes on them, and the TV had mysterious stains on them. I felt icky and thought I would need a hazmat suit staying there! I decided to have a shower, but I didn’t dry off using the towels. They were brown-coloured (on purpose…but you know the hotel is shady when they use brown-coloured towels to hide the dirt!!), so I kind of tried to air dry myself with my hairdryer. I was supposed to stay there a week, but my boss, who was in the room right across the hall, changed his mind and decided to splurge a little more. Why? THE EXPOSED WIRES FROM THE FAN HANGING IN HIS SHOWER!!!

I’d mention this hotel’s name, but I’ve heard from friends it has gone under extensive renos and new owners…so maybe its a lot better now. Hopefully.

    • Wow!! Sounds pretty gross!! I’m glad your boss decided to “splurge” on a better hotel. I mean really…that should have included some type of compensation of hazardous work conditions. LOL But…seriously…
