A BIG THANKS to RunawayBrit for nominating me to participate in Tripbase’s My 7 Links. It’s a summary of seven of my “stand-out” blog posts. I don’t know that I have enough posts I think are “worthy” but, I’m going for it. This is such a great idea. I’m so focused on what I need to write, that I hardly ever think to go back down memory lane.
Following is my trip down memory lane with My 7 Links:
Your most beautiful post: The Best of Brugge
My most beautiful post? This is a hard one. I don’t think I have any posts that I would consider “beautiful.“ However, I do have a few posts in which I’m happy with my photos, and one of those is my post on The Best of Brugge. With it’s Medieval and Romanesque architecture, narrow cobblestone streets, and canals, it’s hard not to get a great photo.
Your most popular post: Forced To Go On Vacation
This my most popular post because I received the most comments on it. However, it’s just a post of my whining that I have to go on a vacation in February when I wasn’t “feeling” it, which is totally not worth it being popular. But….
Your most controversial post: My 1st Year Living in Saudi Arabia
After writing for 3 years in my Black Chick in Saudi blog, nothing should surprise me in regards to the comments I receive. However, the fact of the matter is, when it comes to Saudi Arabia, the culture, and my telling it like it is style, I’m always bound to piss someone off.
Your most helpful post: 6 Hours in Amsterdam!! WhooHoo!!
At first when I tell people I have a 6 hour layover in Amsterdam, they give me their condolences. However, when I tell them that I actually like the layover, and why, then they’re amused, surprised, and slightly jealous. I’m surprised at how many people don’t think to leave the airport on long layovers. This is the perfect opportunity for a mini-excursion.
A post whose success surprised you: Hometown Tourist: The Flower Fields of Carlsbad
Even though this post received no comments, it seems to keep getting attention. I get quite a few daily hits (this is relative to the number of average hits BCOT typically receives) on this post.
A post you feel didn’t get the attention it deserved: Mile High Club Membership
I’m always surprised when the “fun” posts don’t get more attention.
The post that you are most proud of: The Power of Twitter
What started out as a rant about the service level at hotel in Vegas, turned into a Customer Relations moment for Aria LV. Which in the end, was a win-win for both. They offered me a free nights stay, and even though I may not use it, I felt better that the problems I had during my stay were acknowledged, and it gave Aria LV the opportunity to make things right.
